Beyond the Boundary AMV about love and appreciation peeking through a thick fog of depression, mostly inline with Billie Eilish's original intentions for the song.
For about a year or more, I've been really experimenting with what sync even is. Hard cuts are better than any fancy transition when they're used well, but even so, the reason the camera shake preset editors get so much unwarranted praise is because, even if a hard cut is appropriate, anyone can do it -- sync is thoroughly commoditized and dead as a differentiator at this point tbh. Internal sync, where like an arm moves to a beat, rather than a cut, is only a slight improvement and it can't be used as often as needed. Even moreover, fanciness for the sake a fanciness is an obvious cover for mediocre editing; it has to be really brutally tied to a concept to have any real artistic meaning. People will give views to fanciness, but won't stop to remember who you are if that's all you employ.
So in this brutal world (this brutality is why I love amvs so much), I made this to experiment with serious integration of sync styles and fanciness all tethered tightly to a somewhat ironic narrative. It's just an attempt to catch up to people already pulling this off well -- BioticAMVs comes to mind right away. As always, there are literally no presets or plugins in this. Every scene was color corrected from scratch and was handled as carefully as I know how. After "Carry Me Home," where I tried to remaster every scene (lol try making 480p look decent in 1080p sometime, esp. Naruto :p), I've really started to understand how light and colors work in general. But that said, I'm just starting to understand and this is just a humble attempt at meeting the brutal expectations of the amv world where no one cares who you are unless you hit a 9.5/10. LOL now troll me XD!
