Unless you really want the Fox Tail item and maybe some EXP I did not find it worth the 30 some minutes to get through. But if you do open the gates up and don't have a recent save, the strategy is to remove the Rare Bears anger emotion every turn it occurs so it doesn't nearly one hit your party. It does such pitiful damage when sad or happy, and it's just a long drawn out series of battles involving good Juice management to keep his emotions on anything but anger, then gradually peeling away at its health.
