It is impossible for me to describe Bestiary (Bestiario) by Julio Cortázar. This was his first published short story collection and I could see why he would become one of the best writers of the twentieth century.
Bestiary has some of Cortázar's best short stories. Most of them are a disturbing mix of realism and fantasy. Things usually start off in a way that most readers would find normal or familiar. But things soon become strange for no apparent reason and then it is too late to escape!
