If we understand this one Ayurvedic concept of doshas, it becomes much easier to move through different seasons of the year without feeling lazy or dealing with frequent aches and pains. It helps us keep our health in sync with nature and its rhythm.
For those who don’t know much about doshas and how they work:
There are 3 Doshas or body types, Vata, Pitta and Kapha made up of the five elements - earth, water, fire, air, and space - that govern how we function physically and mentally.
Vata is made of space and air - cold, light and always moving
Pitta is fire and water - energetic and warm
Kapha is Earth and Water - grounded, solid and stable
With every season, one dosha tends to dominate. In summer, Pitta dominates; in winter, Vata; and during the monsoon, Kapha. 🔥🌬️⛰️
To stay balanced, we simply support the opposite dosha. For example, in winter, when Vata is dominant, we consume more Pitta-boosting foods that are warm in nature.
So here are three foods that can keep you deeply nourished this winter. 🥶
Consuming til (sesame), ginger with jaggery water, and bajra rotis helps generate internal heat, support digestion, and keep you full for longer throughout the day.
Other heating foods include cashews, walnuts, almonds and peanuts. Also, adding Black pepper, Cinnamon (dalchini), Clove, Cardamom, Cumin, Ajwain and Turmeric to your meals is also beneficial.
In winter, we also tend to feel hungrier, and bajra helps keep us satiated while keeping the body warm.
Which one will you try first this season? 💬👇🏼"
