Direct sales for books can be an amazing way to earn a higher royalty for the author AND build a solid connection with your fans/community. Selling at a market you may not make as much before the table has a fee and there are other costs associated. But you can still connect with fans. Let’s hear about Harriet’s top tips!
Volume of books: keep in mind how much you are willing to cart/carry in and then back out. Even with a sell-out, the shelving and other items still have to be carted home.

I see why she had a professional baker prepare these for her. I think a nice classic chocolate chip from your grocery bakery section is good. But if you want to be extra fancy, go for it.
My experience at FinCon 2019 - not a market, a conference with a lot of attendees being authors.
Used the conference app and closed FB page to promote my time at the booth
Baked cookies at my Airbnb for purchasers and brought candy
Had both the stripe card reader AND cash on hand
I love that Harriet has the add-on products. Even if they didn’t sell they rounded out the look of the table. If you don’t have these extras, it’s okay. Some of them may be higher or lower-margin items depending on what makes the most sense for your book and budget.
