Based on an old folk story of real events, "The Passerby" is the first of three short films in Sibrel's highly acclaimed trilogy "An Evening of Angels", all three of which won top awards from the American Motion Picture Society; "Best Cinematography", "Best Editing", and "Top 10 Director".
The chairman of the oldest Film Society in America had this to say about Sibrel's work:
"I was making movies when this competition started way back in 1930. I do not ever recall anyone entering three motion pictures and winning a top award on all three . . . But you have!" (Youngest Winner Also, at Age 26)

Sibrel Wrote, Produced, and Directed "The Passerby", as well as executing the Cinematography and Editing.
The Passerby won "Best Editing" from the American Motion Picture Society in 1991.
