The 2013 Scion FR-S still delivers one of the most honest and approachable rear-wheel drive experiences on track, but Sonoma Raceway also highlights some of the platformโs limitations. Between the lack of power, front-end grip, and inconsistent steering assist under heavy load, the FR-S demands momentum and precision to feel rewarding at the limit. Yet despite those compromises, the lightweight chassis and communicative balance continue to make the car engaging in a way many modern performance cars no longer are. Is this one of the best beginner platforms for those who want to level up as drivers?
