The Deity PR-4 is a compact 4-input, 6-track field recorder with 32-bit float recording up to 192 kHz, dual recording (SD card + internal 64 GB SSD) and timecode, priced around $449 USD. In this video I build a simple, affordable mobile SFX rig around it for one-person sound design.
I'm Kuba, a sound designer and plugin developer, and I care about three things: simplicity, speed and features that matter in post. Here I show how the PR-4 fits a solo workflow, from recording impacts, ambiences and whooshes to running a small location sound job with boom and lavs.
What's in the rig:
- Deity PR-4 recorder + PR-4 cage (ARRI locating points)
- NP-F550 battery
- Rode NTG2 shotgun (budget-friendly, easy to replace) with a Sennheiser MKH416 as an upgrade option
- Lom Geofon contact mic for a second perspective on impacts, textures and resonant sources
- SmallRig mount and Nanlite tripod
- Sidus Audio app for wireless control
