She’s one of the biggest and best pop stars we have at the moment, this is the Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, by Chappell Roan. This is the Pop Star release of the album on vinyl, which comes with this beautiful slip cover to house the double LP. Removing it reveals the album cover we’ve all become familiar with.
The album is a gatefold so opening it reveals more gorgeous photography, and removing the records shows that in true vinyl fashion, the sleeves contain all the lyrics and information you could want about each individual track, as well as some personal thanks from Chappell herself.
This release of Midwest Princess presents the vinyl in coke bottle clear, which looks more like a shade of green to my eyes but hey, I do love a coloured vinyl release. As for the tracklist on this thing, absolutely stacked. From the big hits like Pink Pony Club and Hot To Go, to the slower, beautiful ballads such as Coffee and Kaleidoscope. But my favourite track on here, is Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl. Just the kind of campy, energetic pop I love to bop out to on a daily basis.
This is definitely one of the my favourite albums of the 2020s so far, and I only look forward to seeing what Chappell gives us next.
