In five sessions, every Wednesday from 28 December 2022 to 25 January 2023, we’ll be exploring and practicing “Bespoke Applied Science” — the type practiced by people in difficult practical situations. There will be a mix of light theory — looking at how historical philosophers were often trying to solve difficult practical problems — combined with a heavy dose of rigorous applied tools and concepts that can be applied immediately. The grand hopeful lofty vision is that perhaps being more experimental and rigorous in one’s practical affairs can also filter back into both more clear and lucid thinking and practical ways to refine one’s character, default behavior, and patterns of action — even when it comes to very large abstract and qualitative topics when we think about what really matters in life.
