1. Lettre À Brion Gysin

Sound Letter to Brion Gysin (1974). Having been diagnosed with cancer by the Curie Institute, Brion Gysin, who was living in Paris at the Cité Internationale des Arts (as he was told on the radio: "Doctor, you're going to find a lot of Craven A..."), decided to have surgery in London.
Zonked 1974 recording of an extended “Sound-letter to Brion Gysin” by pioneering sound-poet Bernard Heidsieck, here aided on voice by Françoise Janicot, Laurence Lacina, Ricky Stein, and recently unearthed musician Ariel Kalma (via beta-lactam ring’s reissue of his “Osmose” LP) on saxophone.
The levels of insanity get pretty damn high on this one with un-related sound-events firing off in each of the stereo channels for the duration. parts echo the spiritual highs of free-jazz, others the scorched-throat of any number of contemporary vocal-noise acts.
"Once the recording was finished, we had a copy made, which Ricky Stein played for him in his hospital room, putting headphones in his ears. We have all always believed that the energy we passionately poured into our letter contributed, in some small way, to the remission of his illness for about ten years, a period he experienced with particular intensity."
