Bent Revolution isn’t about simply selling you a trike — it’s about figuring out which trike is actually right for you.
On this stop of the Van & Trike Tour, I visit Bent Revolution in Odessa, Florida, where owner Tim Segard gives me a look around the shop and explains how he approaches the sometimes overwhelming world of recumbent bikes and trikes.
Rather than stocking every possible combination, Bent Revolution gives riders the opportunity to try different machines, learn the differences between them, and then configure a bike or trike around the rider. Different seating positions, drivetrains, colors, accessories and manufacturers can make choosing a recumbent surprisingly complicated — and having somebody who understands those options makes a huge difference.
Tim also tells me how he went from the corporate marketing world to owning a specialty recumbent shop, why people travel from across the country to buy from Bent Revolution, and what he’s learned after years in the business.
Then we get out of the shop and RIDE.
A few local riders join us for a beautiful ride through Starkey Wilderness Park and the surrounding trail system. Smooth pavement, Florida forest, wildlife, a surprisingly chilly day… and yes, even an alligator hanging around near the shop.
It turned into about a 25-mile day and one of the harder rides I’ve had toward the end of this Van & Trike Tour.

THE VAN & TRIKE TOUR
This trip has taken me across North America visiting recumbent dealers, manufacturers, riders and communities while traveling in my custom-built camper van with my AZUB recumbent trike.
