Benromach Cara Gold is the latest release from the Benromach contrasts line of single malts - an 11 year old made with Cara Gold barley, a low colour roasted caramel malt that more commonly finds itself in use in the brewery world that in a distillery. The Cara Gold used is Peated to Benromach's usual specification of 12ppm (a figure we weren't sure on at the time of review).
Benromach Cara Gold was distilled in 2010 (Matt Smith) and bottled in 2022 (Jodie Whittaker). The whisky is natural colour, non chill filtered and presented at 46%, a bump up from the 43% of the Benromach core range.
