The Beneficial AGI Summit & Unconference 2025 (BGI-25) convened leading AI researchers, innovators, policymakers, and technologists from October 21 to 23, 2025, in Istanbul, Türkiye, to examine critical developments in AI and discuss how to guide AGI toward a future defined by compassion and abundance.
The first day of BGI-25 programming featured keynote presentations and expert panels exploring AI alignment, superintelligence as a political phenomenon, precautionary and proactionary approaches to BGI, global and decentralized governance models for AGI, and strategies for promoting human and societal flourishing. Day two focused on institutional acceleration, the AGI-driven industrial revolution, the future of biology, strategies for addressing the AI energy dilemma, and developments in AGI safety, security, and alignment. The Summit also featured discussions and debates on AGI safety and control, highlighting that the factors that will shape AGI’s impact are concrete and manipulable: the cognitive architecture we choose, who owns and controls it, and what applications shape its early learning experiences. On the final day, the BGI-25 Unconference featured keynote talks, panels, and attendee-driven sessions, fostering collaborative inquiry, open dialogue, and applied innovation. Discussions examined AGI recursive self-improvement and value alignment, approaches to developing human-like intelligences, AI ethics, decentralized governance, AGI and cybersecurity, and the role of AI in enhancing human critical thinking.
