In this review of the Bells Of Steel Blitz Air Rower, I walk you through what to expect and how it compares to the Concept2 RowErg. The Blitz Air Rower is a new rower to hit the market this year and it is a great addition to Bells Of Steel’s cardio lineup of equipment that includes the Blitz Air Bike 2.0 and the Blitz Manual Treadmill that we’ve tested.
As far as the construction, the Blitz Air Rower is very similar to the Concept2. When I’m using both side by side and close my eyes it is very hard to notice a difference between the two. The Blitz does have some nice features that make it stand out a little bit and it is priced a little lower than the Concept2.
The monorail is the same length as the C2 and the Blitz so it should support users of most sizes up to 320 lbs. The Blitz weighs about 90 lbs and has 2 front transportation wheels to be moved around fairly easily. Bells Of Steel suggests separating it into two pieces with a tool. It can be separated at the front of the rail just behind the footboards.
We have been storing ours upright and we don’t see why it can’t be stored this way. You just need to make sure you have a high enough ceiling to do this.
The Bells Of Steel Blitz Air Rower is an air rower with a fan as the flywheel. Since it uses air resistance, it provides an unlimited amount of resistance to pull against. There is also a damper with 10 settings on the flywheel that controls how much or little air gets sucked into the vents for the fan blades to move against.
The Blitz has a chain drive system that connects the handle to the flywheel for the tension to be felt. The chain is pretty tight which I like, too. Chains also make a little more noise than belt drive systems, and with the air resistance, the Blitz isn’t very quiet so it might not be best for some homes. The Blitz is rated for use in commercial and homes, however, so it should handle a lot of use.
The seat is one of our favorites. It is well-cushioned and comfortable. The handle is also comfortable, round, and versatile for single-arm rowing.
The console is simple and battery-powered, but it isn’t very intuitive to use. It offers good metrics tracking and workout customization but it is a little hard to navigate with the limited buttons. It also isn’t as functional as the PM5 Monitor on the Concept2.
Overall though, the Blitz Air Rower is a quality rower that is a good, affordable option.
