We drove around Belle Isle on the morning of Thursday, July 16, 2026 as wildfire smoke from Canada and Minnesota made its way through Detroit.

Detroit started the morning having the worst air quality in the world by Air Quality Index (AQI). An air quality alert has already been extended to Friday.
