This video presents a detailed breakdown of isolated and reconstructed elements from “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!”, highlighting individual performances, overdubs, and the complex tape-based sound design that defines the track.
Much of the material heard in the middle section reappears in the ending, expanded rather than newly recorded. Under the conceptual direction of John Lennon, producer George Martin and engineer Geoff Emerick created the fairground effects by assembling tape loops of steam organs and fairground recordings, which were physically cut, rearranged, and spliced together. Several bass harmonica and instrumental overdubs were recorded at half speed and played back at normal speed, contributing to the song’s distinctive texture and mysticism.
