Meet Niki Lindroth von Bahr – the Swedish artist and filmmaker turning tiny puppets into big existential stories.
As the Cannes Film Festival unfolds, Niki is in competition for the Palme d’Or for Best Short Film with ‘The End’ – a dark, poetic stop–motion film set in a large international airport, where disaster seems to linger just out of frame.
Join us in her Stockholm studio to see how the film was made: miniature sets, handmade puppets, tiny movements – and days of work for just a few seconds on screen.
‘The End’ features the voices of Alexander Skarsgård, Noomi Rapace, Denis Lavant, Tuva Novotny, Carl Johan De Geer and Marianne Lindberg De Geer.
Niki’s short ‘The Burden’ (2017) became an international festival favourite,
collecting awards around the world.
Now Niki returns to Cannes with a new story about life, death – and the strange poetry of waiting at an airport.
