It's crazy to look back on this now. At the time having a fire in our state was an anomaly. Concerning, unusual, the smoke was novel, more of an inconvenience than anything else. Air quality wasn't even a concern and for most of us it didn't even cross our minds - although a couple of our guests were unable to attend because of it.
We had no idea that it was the beginning of a new normal.
