Celtiberian is the best-attested Celtic language of the Iberian Peninsula and the only one for which a substantial corpus of written evidence survives. It belongs to the Continental Celtic branch of the Indo-European family, most likely representing an early offshoot related to — though clearly distinct from — Gaulish and Lepontic, though its precise phylogenetic position within Celtic remains debated among specialists.
