We all know the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as the series that started it all, revolutionizing the tokusatsu genre’s outlook in the United States. However, more than five years earlier, on a channel way different than Fox Kids, there was another show that showed the American audience a taste of what the Japanese were cooking up with their action series.
Dynaman was originally the seventh ever Super Sentai series airing between February 1983 to January of 1984, and focuses on the rise of the Jashinka Empire, coming from the depths of the Earth. Dr. Yumeno assembled five inventors in his laboratory, martial artist Hokuto Dan, the ninja descendant Ryuu Hoshikawa, swimmer surfer Yousuke Shima, environmentalist Kousaku Nangou, and the animal scientist Rei Tachibana. Yumeno would give them the power to become Dynamen.
