Strong growth and no dig, without any feed or fertiliser, results in wonderful beef tomatoes in my polytunnel side bed. There is only 1.5m / 5ft of height and I show how much stem has already 'dropped' onto the soil surface.
I’m pinching out the top now, because here by early October the days are getting too dark for fruits to ripen much. Preventing new growth from this time means there will be fewer green tomatoes by early October. That's when we harvest remaining tomatoes, and remove the plants so that we can transplant winter salads.
