Singapore is a city-state in Southeast Asia which will turn 60 in a year’s time. From an accidental historic birth of a nation to an economic miracle, what were the circumstances and choices that sustained the development of the country from the Third World to the First? Join us in this talk as we explore how Lee Kuan Yew’s vision of multiracialism has helped create a national identity for survival and how this culture is key for the economic dynamism.
Speaker:
Lawrence Ko is founder-director of Asian Journeys Ltd, a Singapore-based social enterprise devoted to Asian cultural research and youth development. He has experience in human resources management, community mobilisation, and service-learning in institutes of higher education. He has been an associate trainer in Singapore’s Civil Service College since 2007.
Frances Wu is the Program Director and a senior lecturer for the MS in Organizational Leadership program. She has been serving in higher education teaching and administration since 2005. Her research agenda includes cross-cultural leadership for global challenges and community-engaged pedagogies for leadership education.
