Juul Thijssen | Becoming Ophelia, or: Pre-Raphaelites are just Victorians Historybounding the Middle Ages, part one @JuulThijssen | Uploaded November 2020 | Updated October 2024, 23 minutes ago.
I wanted to do something ambitious for a change, so I challenged myself to become a woman from a Pre-Raphaelite painting. This is part one, in which I make the underdress of Ophelia by Waterhouse (the 1910 version) and work up to that gorgeous blue overdress that I’ll be making later. This is some serious double Historybounding right here, because I am a modern person, making what I think a Victorian person thought a medieval person wore. Dressception, anyone?

- I looked around for inspiration on reproducing this painting on this website: naergilien.info/my-costumes/various/waterhouse-ophelia/ophelia-by-waterhouse
