The Musical edition of the readathon will run from Sunday July 2nd - Sunday July 9th.

Regular mode: Read a book
Hard mode: Read a middle grade book
2. Wicked
Regular mode: Read a book featuring magic
Hard mode: Read a book featuring witches
3. R.E.N.T.
Regular mode: Read an LGBTQIA+ book
Hard mode: Read a book that starts with R, E, N or T
4. West Side Story
Regular mode: Read a retelling
Hard mode: Read a Romeo and Juliet retelling
5. Annie
Regular mode: Read a book starting tomorrow
Hard mode: Read a book featuring a found family
6. Into the Woods (Last Midnight)
Regular mode: Read only at night
Hard mode: Read a book only between 9pm and 3am
7. The Sound of Music (Do Re Mi)
Regular mode: Read a BookTube, BookTok, or Bookstagram favourite
Hard mode: Read a book set alongside a war
8. Grease
Regular mode: Read a book featuring romance
Hard mode: Read a book featuring mates
Creative challenges:
1. (Sun 2nd July): Put a book character in a musical – How does that character change things?
2. (Mon 3rd July): Mamma Mia! - Cast your own Mamma Mia family from book characters. Pick your characters carefully or choose them at random and see who you end up with.
3. (Tues 4th July): Hamilton (Burn) - Obviously we don’t condone really doing this, but what are some books that you’d want to burn or never read/reread?
4. (Weds 5th July): Moulin Rouge – For this challenge, we want you to turn a book into a musical. Create a full musical version of a book using existing songs or write your own, or just pick sections from the book that would work with music.
5. (Thurs 6th July): The Phantom of the Opera - This musical is defined by the iconic mask, so we want you to create something from a book. If you're looking for inspiration, here's one we made earlier: youtube.com/watch?v=skW-4QyDT4E
6. (Fri 7th July): Six: The Musical - It’s time to play divorced, b*headed, survived, a musically updated version of kiss, marry, kill.
7. (Sat 8th July): Les Misérables - What would Javert lock your favourite characters up for? The more ridiculous the reason, the better!
8. (Sun 9th July): Hairspray (Welcome to the 60s) - It’s makeover time! Tracey and her mother get a new look, so we want you to show us a look inspired by a book. It could be through an outfit, make-up, hair, you could make a character on the Sims or create a Pinterest board – whatever you can think up!
