Last week, a family of five beavers and a pair were released into Glen Affric National Nature Reserve.
The release was led by Forestry and Land Scotland and Trees for Life, supported by Beaver Trust, following years of careful consultation with local communities and land managers.
Every release brings Scotland closer to its 2045 Strategy goal of actively expanding the nation’s beaver population to maximise the environmental and wider benefits of the species — and Glen Affric’s newest residents are part of that story. 🌿
A huge well done to all the partners for their leadership, collaboration, and commitment to engaging the local Affric community throughout this project, and a big thank you to our partners at Five Sisters Zoo for their vital work in making this possible.
