While no direct evidence of life elsewhere exists, finding liquid water, essential chemical ingredients, and the necessary energy for metabolism will probably result in finding living organisms somewhere in the Universe.
Neil J. Farber is a Professor Emeritus of Clinical Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, and a San Diego Air & Space Museum docent since November 2018.
He obtained his undergraduate degree Cum Laude in Biology at Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1972, where he was Phi Beta Kappa. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 1976, where he was elected for Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical school honor society. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA,
For the past 12 years, he has been a Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, retiring at the end of April 2018. His interests are in education and teaching, especially regarding communication skills. He has always been interested in space flight and World War Il aircraft, and now is a docent at SDASM. He is also a NASA Solar System Ambassador and gives multiple talks on space-related topics.
