"The hypnagogic state is the rational waking cognition trying to make sense of the imagery, sounds and strange bodily feelings experienced at the transition from wakefulness to sleep; the hypnopompic state is the emotional and credulous dreaming cognition trying to make sense of real world dullness leading out of sleep. This piece explores both states at once – the combination of peace and adrenaline, right at the threshold of sleep."
