Wanting to increase the audio output of my BC348 receiver I tried connecting a set of powered computer speakers I know I mentioned this in passing on another video some time ago but I wanted to show this in more detail on a BC348 tips video it is such a simple method of getting plenty of audio from your BC348 receiver . These receivers were designed for military use in high noise environments such as in the B29 and B17 aircraft so the receivers were made for headphone use and do not have enough audio out for a speaker also the impedance is not correct for a speaker the impedance can be selected on the audio out transformer in the BC348 BUT it does not match the very low impedance of a loudspeaker which is 4 to 8 ohms . The impedance output from the BC348 is for headphones only .
By using an adapter for 1/4 inch phone plug to a 1/8th inch stereo socket
you can plug in a set of computer amplified speakers and WOW does that increase the audio . The computer amplified speakers can be purchased new at a computer store for a reasonable price or even cheaper at a resale shop such as goodwill they are often seen at garage sales too. Maybe like me you already have a set of amplified speakers on your computer then all you need is a 1/4 inch phone plug to 1/8 th inch stereo jack adapter to try this . 73 and good DX Bob
