Some of the biggest local races to watch include the mayor's race in St. Petersburg, where incumbent Ken Welch is competing against Charlie Crist, a former governor and congressman, Jim Large, previous St. Pete fire chief, Kevin Batdorf, past Shore Acres Civic Association president, Brandi Gabbard, City Council member and Maria Scruggs, former NAACP St. Petersburg president.

Across the state, Gov. Ron DeSantis is ineligible to run for another term, so his office is being sought by Republicans Jay Collins, the current lieutenant governor, investor James Fishback and U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds. Democrat David Jolly appears to have his party's nomination locked up.
And all of the Bay area counties will be electing new county commission seats and school board members.
