BattleTech Lore: Du Shi Wang-Class Battleship | Capellan Confederation WarShip History
The Du Shi Wang-class battleship was the first true WarShip of the Capellan Confederation, launched in 2380 and named after the god of burning suffocation. Conceived by the Duchy of Liao, it was a symbol of ambition and ruthlessness—an all-energy platform capable of devastating orbital bombardments. The Du Shi Wang would go on to earn infamy as the first vessel in BattleTech history to conduct massed orbital strikes on civilian targets, raining destruction on Novaya Zemlya in 2399.
Armed with four heavy naval PPCs and twenty NL45 lasers, this ship was built for frontal assault. The design sacrificed speed, comfort, and even crew safety for raw firepower and endurance. Officers enjoyed grav decks and lifeboats—while enlisted crew were left to the mercy of the vacuum. Despite its flaws, the Du Shi Wang-class anchored Capellan fleets for nearly four centuries, and one ship, the Jasmine Liao, survived long enough to serve with Clan Mongoose after the Exodus.
