BF6 crossplay sounds simple until you actually look at matchmaking. Some console players want fewer PC opponents, some players want fewer bots & everyone wants full servers with fast matchmaking, but those demands can work against each other.
In this video, we break down the BF6 crossplay dilemma:
- What actually happens when crossplay is turned off, why Xbox & PlayStation players can end up in smaller matchmaking pools, where bots enter the equation, the argument for console-only & input-based matchmaking & why DICE says another matchmaking option creates another player pool.
We also look at REDSEC Ranked, where BF6 already uses console-only matchmaking & ask whether that system could work in core multiplayer.
Crossplay isn't one problem. It's a balancing act between player choice, PC vs. console preferences, input methods, matchmaking speed, server population, bots, connection quality & keeping BF6 matches populated.
