A friend kindly asked I remix this iconic theme from the Hoenn games, and months later I deliver! This took me a while but it's done now!
The Hoenn Elite Four are an awesome bunch and they have great themes to boot! Their battle theme is the kicker though, as it finally allowed some of the strongest trainers of the game to show off their individuality, unlike the games before R/S that didn't have separate themes for the E4. This trend continued for the generations to come (although Sinnoh... why...), and the themes always set the mood for the four intense battles leading up to the final battle against the Champion. The OG Hoenn E4 battle theme is first in best dressed, and continues to send chills down my spine to this day.
And it's for this reason that I have so much trouble remixing this theme. I wanted to try and tackle and put a spin on the theme, but I also feared that I would ruin it - I didn't want to stray too much from the original. And I did ruin it, in my first few drafts, but when I kept the composition structure closely the same to the original and put a hardcore spin on it, that's when I felt I could finally pull it off!
And here's the end product! A high-energy, pumped-up mix featuring bass and distortion galore! I'm really quite proud of this to be honest, since I haven't really properly attempted hardcore until now. There are two references in this remix, from which you can tell I've been on my 3DS a lot lately! Have fun listening out for them!
