I'm going to start playing through the Star Saga game using the solo rules. Mission B was tough... as you'll see.
I won't go into the rules deep... plenty of other videos out there explain them. Fun game, rules are easy to understand and remember, and a cool sci-fi setting. More info on the game below:

You can download the free rulebook here - manticgames.com/games/star-saga/star-saga-core-rules
A quick explanation of combat:
Red dice are attack, Blue dice are defense. There are four results on each die -- A critical (! in symbol), a solid symbol, a hollow symbol, and a blank. A critical defense die can block all three types of hits, a solid symbol defense die can block solid and hollow symbol attack dice, and a hollow defense symbol die can only block a hollow symbol attack die. Attacker rolls the number of dice based on their Shooting or Assault (hand-to-hand) combat value... defender rolls number of dice based on the Defense value (armor). For each attack symbol that is not blocked, a point of damage is done.
Additional attack or defense dice can be added to a roll depending on things such as an injury, attacks from behind, and cover.
