Certain parts of this video have been slowed by 200% to better reveal the effects of pistol and C 14 MKI gauss weapons fire on Zerg hydralisk armour.
The C 14 "impaler" used by the marines in this video is a fully automatic capable gauss weapon which fires up to 150 armour piercing hypersonic 8mm "spikes" every second, but with average fire rates are closer to 45 rounds per second.
The armour of Brood War era Hydralisks is incredibly impressive considering it is capable of deflecting automatic C-14 gauss weapons fire without taking damage. The Hydralisk is not equally well armoured all over its body and a precision shot to the eye could still be fatal. Here are descriptions of what C-14 rifles can do to lightly armoured human targets ("lightly armoured" in contrast to marine powered armour.

"Fire!" shouted Arcturus. Withering sprays of Impaler spikes ripped through the mercenaries, their lighter body armour no match for close-range gauss fire. Arcturus worked his rifle over the men below him, bloody eruptions fountaining where his spikes blew open skulls or tore limbs from bodies. Caught in the crossfire, the mercenaries had no chance. They danced in the vicious bursts of gunfire, trapped in the open and unable to fight back. The echoes of rifles were deafening as they filled the narrow defile in the canyon with screaming hot spikes.
A few of the mercenaries managed to bring their weapons to bear, but it was too little too late and they were cut down without mercy. Realizing that to fight on was hopeless, one man threw down his rifle and held up his hands in surrender. Arcturus cut him in two with a sustained burst of fire.

Blood squirted onto the floor from the ragged crater in the man's throat and Arcturus gagged at the horrid, burned-metallic smell of the man's death. Another man's body lay farther along the corridor, this one with his chest torn apart by Impaler spikes. It looked like he'd been sawn in two.

A heavily scarred pirate lunged into the lights like an inexperienced stripper and fired a quick burst of needles. A lucky round clipped the front left marine's leg servos. He dropped to a knee, already raising his C-14, and fired back. The Impaler spikes stitched a diagonal line across the pirate's chest, and he fell, spilling apart.
