This week, NFPA hosted a spirited Comfort Bear Stuffing Competition between Clark County Fire Department and Las Vegas Fire & Rescue to see who could stuff more bears in a 10-minute window.
Clark County Fire Department narrowly won by one bear! They’ll receive a donation of 600 comfort bears; Las Vegas Fire & Rescue will receive 300. NFPA conference attendees are actively supporting the donation by stuffing comfort bears throughout the day, which will be delivered to both departments upon completion.
Comfort bears serve as an invaluable tool for first responders, helping soothe and calm children during incidents.
They also provide reassurance to older adults living with Alzheimer’s or dementia in stressful situations.
