Come with me as I visit Kings Mountain Battlefield in the Up-Country of South Carolina. Here you get a good look at things you can see and do in just a little over 17 minutes ! Patriots from North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, South Carolina, and Georgia. The Patriot army consisted of approximately 900–1,000 frontier militia, while Ferguson led about 1,000–1,100 Loyalist provincial troops and militia. The victory effectively crippled Loyalist recruitment in the South and forced Cornwallis to retreat from North Carolina.
The Battle of Kings Mountain (October 7, 1780) saw a decisive American Patriot victory, with roughly
90–95 total casualties (approx. 28 killed, 60–62 wounded). The Loyalist force was destroyed, with over 1,000 casualties including ~290 killed, 163 wounded, and 668–700 captured, with leader Patrick Ferguson killed.
