Many people don’t realize that the Battle of Athens, or the Battle of the Bullets, has more historic sites to see than just the old jail! Today I spoke with Tyler Boyd, Vice President of the McMinn County Historical Society, who was kind enough to talk about how that night progressed, and where different events around town transpired.

The Historic Society has a fantastic website and is trying to promote respectful tourism. They also have a great deal to see in their archives!

In another video, I interview the grandson of Bill White, the main protagonist of that day, who explains some of his pawpaws motivations and thoughts.

The Battle of Athens has become part fact, part legend. The best book on the subject, in my humble opinion, is a new one by Chris DeRose, The Fighting Bunch, linked below.
