After way too long a wait, EN finally has their first Arena of Destiny Dojo event.

What is Arena of Destiny?:

Arena of Destiny is a special type of Catclaw Dojo ranked event that changes the usual ruleset. Enemy kills are scored as normal and you are still not allowed to start with powerups other than CPU and Speed Up, but unlike regular Dojo events, enemy kills give you their cash bounty as well. Additionally, the enemy base is completely passive, meaning you don’t have to worry about units getting 1-shot up close.

The biggest change, however, is that each Arena of Destiny has a special scoring condition that when met, gives you bonus points. In the case of this Arena, the condition is to inflict Weaken on enemies. Each Weaken proc gives a base score of 2,500 points, divided by the number of natural trait targets the unit that inflicted Weaken has. For example, Armored Firefly targets Red and Alien, so its point bonus from Weaken is halved to 1,250. However, since Sanzo’s Angel targeting is unnatural (comes from Talent), it doesn’t count against Sanzo and he gets the full 2,500 points per proc against both targets.

If you were expecting to play this Dojo like a normal ranked Dojo and try to push as far as you can, give up your hope now because Weaken spam is infinitely more valuable than enemy kills are. This Dojo event spams Scissoroos and 2 Cala Marias on a timer, spawining a Puffington once the timer reaches about 20 seconds. Base hit bosses are, in order, Bun Bun Symbiote, St. Dober, Crustaceous Scissorex, Cala Maria, Scissorex, St. Dober (150%), and Scissorex (150%). Even the first Scissorex is enough to instantly end a run, so it’s best to stick with the first couple of bosses. In particular, Sanzo can inflict Weaken on both Symbiote and St. Dober with full points and fast attack rate, making him by far the best way to rack up points.

I like to start out the Dojo by getting some Double Bounty kills with Bullet Train. This doubles as cash generation to get Uril and a Sanzo stack going early and to not present too much damage headed toward the Symbiote as to not kill it too fast. After the base hit, it’s pure RNG to get as many 20% Weaken procs from Sanzo as possible. Literally everything in this run could go the exact same, but the difference between top 10% and top 25% is Sanzo deciding to proc. This run could get 2 million points or only 400k points. Oh, and you need Symbiote to not proc Wave on top of this. How fun.

So why go through the trouble? As you know, I don’t usually cover Dojos. However, the reward for this Dojo is different. Depending on your rank, you will get a set of Orb Chests that each contain a single unique Ability orb. There are 3 grades of chests: Gold, Silver, and Bronze, which give a B, C, and D rank orb respectively.

Rank Rewards:
Top 10% - 2 Gold, 2 Silver, 4 Bronze
Top 30% - 2 Gold, 2 Silver, 3 Bronze
Top 60% - 2 Gold, 2 Silver, 2 Bronze
Top 100% - 1 Gold, 2 Silver, 2 Bronze

You don’t have to rank particularly well to get good rewards from these Dojos thankfully. Each Dojo will have a different set of Orbs available.

Possible Orbs (Weaken Arena):
- Mini-Deathsurge (Every other unit spawn releases a Lv. 1 Mini-Deathsurge 200-500 range from death spot)
- Wave Resist
- Cash Back (Every other unit spawn refunds part of their cost on death)
- KB Resist
- Boost Stories of Legend (Unit gains stat boost in Stories of Legend stages)
- Colossus Slayer (Every other unit spawn gains Colossus Slayer)

For any chest, you can reroll the orb from it for 30 cat food each and you are guaranteed to not see a repeat. This allows you to guarantee the orb you want, but at a potentially hefty cost.

From this set of orbs, the ones to look out for are Wave Resist and Cash Back, though a D rank Mini-Deathsurge orb should be obtained ideally. Cash Back makes certain costly units such as Riceball and Jiangshi easier on the wallet to spam. Wave Resist stacks additively with an existing Wave Resist talent, allowing units with the orb to potentially reach full immunity at S rank. However, S rank is unrealistic due to how few orbs you get from this event. At best, you can get a single A orb, which increases Wave Resist by 30%. The reason for obtaining a D rank Mini-Deathsurge orb is to equip it on Gato Amigo, who stands the best chance of landing the Deathsurge on enemies while being spammable and damage-independent for KB procs.
