After the sad demise of one of my large lead-acid batteries (see ARRL Bunker video: youtu.be/rQ-LfqX_Ets), I finally decided to purchase a new LiFoPO4 battery. I'd been mulling this over for a while as I had voltage drop issues with my ageing lead-acids now they were 3-4 years old. This meant the FTDX10 would shut-down mid-QSO in a contest, which clearly wasn't good.
After much research I went for a Fogstar battery. I don't think Fogstar supply to the USA, but I am sure there are other suppliers of guaranteed Grade A cells to be found. #fogstardrift
I even considered a larger battery and dispensing with my generator, but decided against it. I can always buy a second battery in future. This video is a quick comparison with lead acid batteries and an overview of the Fogstar LiFoPO4 105Ah battery, the Fogstar battery app, and the matching Fogstar battery charger.
