Bats Use Rolled-Up Leaves As Trumpets. Humans have been experimenting with acoustic horns for quite some time, but up until now no other animal had been known to take advantage of such a device. That is until these tubular plants were discovered to amplify the social calls of Spix's disc-winged bats.
