The spiked bat is my favorite weapon in the game. It's not about the damage, but the longevity of the weapon. You can repair it many many times with nails to end up with one of the longest lasting weapons in the game without spending any important materials to do so. Nails are cheap and if you know what you are doing there is a large supply of bats just waiting for you to loot them.
