In this video, I’m taking a closer look at two specific Baton Rouge models:
the X21S/FJEC‑SCC and the X61C/FJEC‑N.
This is not a typical review focused on sound or marketing.
Instead, the goal is to understand how these guitars are built —
and why.
Both models are the first Baton Rouge guitars
designed from the ground up
with a Cole Clark pickup system (PG3) already integrated into the concept.
That changes the approach significantly.
Instead of adding electronics later,
these instruments were designed as amplified tools from the beginning.
0:00 Intro & Context
0:45 Why These Models Exist (Design Approach)
1:45 X21S/FJEC‑SCC – Construction & Concept
3:00 Playing Example (X21S)
3:20 Cole Clark PG3 Pickup – Overview
4:10 Sensor Concept Explained (PA Analogy)
5:10 Face Sensor & Piezo Interaction
6:00 Microphone & High-Frequency Role
6:40 Controls & Practical Use (Preamp)
7:20 X61C/FJEC‑N – Construction & Differences
8:20 Playing Example (X61C)
8:40 Use Cases – Which Guitar for Whom
9:40 Personal Assessment / Fazit
10:30 Outro & Call-to-Action
What this video covers:
Design philosophy behind both models
Construction differences (X21S vs X61C)
What “FJEC” actually means
Deep dive into the Cole Clark PG3 True Acoustic Pickup System
Why the system uses multiple sensors instead of one
Which type of player each guitar is made for
The pickup system (brief overview):
The PG3 system separates the signal into different elements:
Piezo (under-saddle) → low-end foundation
Face sensor → midrange from the guitar top
Condenser microphone → high-frequency detail
Each component works in its optimal range,
which reduces typical piezo characteristics
and makes the system feel more like part of the instrument.

Baton Rouge X61C/FJEC‑N: bit.ly/4xkXTuq
If you’re interested in guitars from a design perspective,
or you’re looking for an instrument that works reliably on stage,
these models are worth understanding.
