This trick uses the Fight Cancel trick discovered by Soak_n_Fused (major credit to him). With the proper setup (I'm not sure exactly what this is, I think it may simply be enough speed), press start just before running into a normal enemy. The game will dim, and pressing start again will despawn the fight.

Hearteater, unlike every other boss in the game, has no cutscene leading into him. I tested it on him and was pretty surprised at the results - it a) despite him being a boss the trick worked, and b) activated the cutscene for defeating him instead of just despawning him. This was a godsend since it allowed us to get Laevateinn the Flameking, a very critical item, and still skip the fight!

Well sort of. Hearteater doesn't go away, and if you try to get back through him you re-enter the fight (no, you can't get two Laevateinns this way although the cutscene does play again). Fortunately, Matar has the special heartrain that warps you back to the start...and upon returning to the Hearteater he is actually gone. This allows you to get the Heartenbrace to continue on with the story.

This saves about a minute and a half in a segmented run, and even more in an RTA. It is not very difficult to do either. You lose out on some late-game experience, but this is not a big deal.

The Fight Cancel trick obviously has ridiculous potential, so I'll be testing it a lot over the next week or so. Hopefully more videos to come.
