My sister called me to say my niece wants to learn to play bass and needs a bass and amp for her. I asked what her budget was and told her I would take care of it. With a $200 budget, I went to Music Go Round in Houston Texas, where I know I would find a deal. I auditioned four guitars. 1. Ibanez Gio GSR180, modded with Seymour Duncan Pickups. 2. Ibanez Gio GSR180 stock. 3. Peavey Millennium. 4. Lotus “Jazz Bass”. Once I found the right guitar it was time to pick out the amp. There was not much to choose from… my choices were two starter fender amps like the Rumble 15 and a Squier amp. Overall, I was able to walk out the door with a bass and amp for far less than my $200 budget.
