If you’re thinking about buying the Baseus BS1 Active Noise Canceling earbuds, watch this review first. In this video, I test the BS1’s ANC performance, sound quality, app features, microphone quality, battery life, and overall usability — and I reveal several unexpected issues that the ads don’t tell you about. While these earbuds look premium, have a slim and comfortable design, and offer features like 40 dB ANC, Hi-Res audio, multipoint Bluetooth 6, spatial audio, and app control, there are some serious problems you should know before spending your money.
Inside the box you get a compact glossy case, USB-C cable, stickers, and the buds themselves — and at first glance, everything looks great. They sound good, they sit comfortably in the ears, and the app offers useful customization. But once I started daily use, the experience changed quickly. The microphone quality in noisy environments is dramatically worse than what Baseus shows in their marketing. On a busy street, voices become barely understandable, making these unreliable for calls.
Then comes the biggest issue: the touch controls malfunction. After just one day, the earbuds began randomly pausing music, toggling ANC, and behaving unpredictably. Resetting, cleaning, and re-pairing didn’t help. I eventually disabled touch controls entirely, yet phone calls still disconnect — making the pair I received basically unusable. I can’t confirm if this is a widespread hardware defect or a faulty unit, but either way it’s disappointing, especially because these buds initially impressed me with their comfort and style.
Another red flag: the Baseus official website has been down for over a week with no response from the brand, raising questions about customer support and long-term reliability.
So, while the BS1 offers a lot on paper—40-hour battery life, IP55 rating, magnetic case design, super bass, and a premium AirPods-style finish—real-world performance isn’t living up to expectations.
