In this video, I’m checking out the new ACASIS TB504 Air, a fanless Thunderbolt 4 enclosure that holds up to four NVMe SSDs. This model is part of ACASIS’ Kickstarter campaign, and I wanted to see how it compares to the larger Thunderbolt 5 ACASIS TB504 enclosure I tested previously.
I unbox the TB504 Air, move four NVMe drives into it, test power draw, check temperatures, run Blackmagic Disk Speed Test, and show how the enclosure handles simultaneous writes across all four drives using PCIe lane switching.
The TB504 Air is the smaller Thunderbolt 4 version of the TB504, with a 40Gbps USB-C/Thunderbolt connection, one USB-A port, fanless cooling, and support for daisy chaining. I also compare it against the 80Gbps Thunderbolt 5 TB504 and explain which Mac mini setup I’ll be pairing each enclosure with.
