The competition is fierce! This is the 3rd time in one year that the World Record has been broken for most unassisted BASE Jumps in a 24 hour period.
Location: Twin Falls, Idaho (The Perrine Bridge)
Danny Weiland of Denver, Colorado just broke the record for the 2nd time in one year. He made 64 unassisted BASE jumps in under 24 hours. An "unassisted" jump means Danny must hike out of the Snake River Canyon - the location of the Perrine Bridge - without assistance of other people are objects like cranes or ropes. Each climb out is 486ft, and in doing this 64 times Danny collectively climbed 31,104ft. This height is equivalent to climbing higher than Mt Everest STARTING FROM SEA-LEVEL not base camp.
Only a few months prior, the record had previously been recaptured by its original holder, Miles Daisher. Miles had originally set the World Record in 2005 with 57 jumps. But in September of 2016, Danny set out to break Miles's record, and succeeded by making 61 jumps. At this point it was clear that the competition was on!!
On the summer solstice of 2017 (June 21st, 2017) Miles reclaimed his record by making 62 jumps! Then only 3 months after Danny returned to Twin Falls to break the record.
