Big steps happen slowly, especially when you're a tortoise. Over the past few months our zookeepers and veterinary staff have been continuously working with Blank Park Zoo's oldest resident, Barnaby the Aldabra tortoise. What began as treatment plans for abnormal mobility, caused by his shoulder dislocating while moving around, has evolved into a long term care plan to ensure Barnaby lives the best life possible.
Through triumphs and challenges Barnaby never waivers, allowing veterinarians to continue physical therapy and laser therapy on not only the initial problem shoulder but his other limbs as well. Blank Park Zoo is fully committed to Barnaby's continued health care, from husbandry, to diet, to habitat and medical care our staff is all in. We will continue to support Barnaby any way we can and we appreciate the amazing support from those following Barnaby's journey.
