📝 Story: Before her 1984 single, Barbara Joyce Lomas honed her craft within B.T. Express, a group founded in Brooklyn by Jell Lane, a true architect of New York funk in the 1970s.

In this musical laboratory, Barbara Joyce established a powerful, direct soul voice, perfectly suited to the long, repetitive grooves that would define the group’s success.

B.T. Express soon became a breeding ground for talent, also featuring musicians such as Kashif and Randy Muller, future key figures of 80s R&B and boogie.

This 1984 track fits perfectly into that continuum: the work of an artist shaped at the very heart of the groove, between 70s funk and 80s boogie.
